L'Oréal Dia Color: demi-permanent gloss and grey coverage
Dia Color is an alkaline gloss colour designed for professional salon use. It offers a way to enhance natural colour, introduce a new reflect or refresh a client's colour without choosing a permanent range. The shade palette lets a stylist tailor depth and tone to the starting hair and the desired result.
- 60ml tube in the selected shade.
- No ammonia in the colour formula.
- Up to 70% grey coverage for clients seeking a softer blending result.
- Mixable shades for personalised, true-to-tone colour.
- Cream texture for controlled mixing, application and rinsing.
L'Oréal reports three times more shine than the previous formula in instrumental testing. It also describes the range as containing up to 91% natural-origin ingredients; the proportion varies by shade. Neither claim replaces checking the ingredient list and precautions for the exact product selected.
Shade selection
Choosing your L'Oréal Professionnel Dia Color 60ml shade
Choose by the full shade code, using the colour chart and the client's service history. Assess natural depth, existing artificial colour and the percentage of grey before deciding on a mixture. Blonde, brown, warm and cool reflects should be selected for the canvas you are working on, rather than judged only from a screen image.
For repeat services, examine regrowth separately from faded lengths. A root application and a colour refresh may need different timing. Record the mixture after each appointment so the next service can be adjusted to the hair's current condition.
Mixing & developer compatibility
How to mix Dia Color with developer
The standard ratio is one part Dia Color to 1.5 parts of the recommended Diactivateur. A full 60ml tube uses 90ml developer. L'Oréal lists 6, 9 and 15 volume Diactivateurs for this range, with the choice determined by the service. Follow the supplied instructions for strength, proportions and application.
The manufacturer's first-application guidance gives a 20-minute development time. Subsequent root and length services have their own sequence, so do not apply the same timing to every appointment. Emulsify, rinse and shampoo as directed once processing is complete.
For professional use only. Wear suitable gloves and follow the manufacturer's allergy alert testing and safety instructions before every service. Ammonia-free hair colour still requires a professional consultation and the same care in assessing suitability.
Frequently asked questions
L'Oreal Dia Color questions
Is Dia Color the same as Dia Light?
No. Dia Color is an alkaline demi-permanent gloss with grey blending in its service range. Dia Light is an acidic option used for toning and refreshing previously coloured or lightened hair. Select the system around the service, then use its specific developer guidance.
Will it completely cover every grey hair?
Dia Color offers up to 70% grey coverage. If the client wants a permanent service with up to 100% white coverage, compare Majirel permanent hair colour or INOA permanent colour, following the relevant shade and mixing rules.
Can I use a general cream developer?
Use the Diactivateur specified for Dia Color. A bottle labelled developer is not automatically interchangeable with another colour system. Match the strength and mixing ratio to the carton and technical guide before beginning.
How should I order for a salon appointment?
Check the shade code, tube quantity and compatible developer together. Have enough product for the intended application and review the client record before mixing. The options on this page show the current Dia Color selection; availability varies by shade.
