The range is made up of pure naturals, rich naturals, deep browns, vibrant reds, special blondes and special mix. It has a superior colour technology . Create your salon formula with Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect permanent hair colour. This selection brings together tonal shades for brunettes, blondes and clients looking for warmer or cooler reflects. Each 60ml tube contains colour cream, with Welloxon Perfect developer sold separately. It is a professional hair colour system, not a ready-to-use home colouring kit.

The Koleston Perfect range includes Pure Naturals, Rich Naturals, Deep Browns, Vibrant Reds, Special Blondes and Special Mix. These families have different roles within a colour service. Check the full shade code and the relevant Wella instructions: a natural coverage shade, a high-lift blonde and a mixing shade are not used in exactly the same way.

Wella describes Koleston Perfect as delivering pure balanced colour with natural depth and shine. The result still depends on the starting hair colour, previous chemical treatments and the formula selected. A consultation helps your colourist decide whether permanent hair dye is appropriate for the roots, the lengths or both.

Choosing Wella Koleston Perfect shades

Use the number on the tube as the reference when ordering. The options on this page include 4/07 Medium Natural Brunette Brown, 5/1 Light Ash Brown, 6/3 Dark Gold Blonde and 7/43 Medium Blonde Red Gold. Select a shade to see its current availability; screen colours and shade names alone cannot predict your finished colour.

A professional colourist considers depth and reflect together. The same tonal direction can appear differently on a natural base, previously coloured hair or porous ends. Warmth exposed during lifting also affects the formula. Compare the Wella shade chart with the actual starting point before deciding on a cooler ash, a gold reflect or a deeper brunette finish.

Koleston Perfect permanent hair colour can provide up to 100% grey coverage when the appropriate shade and formula are used. Assess the amount and resistance of grey hair before choosing the natural base contribution. Special Mix and Special Blonde services should not be assumed to provide the same coverage as a standard coverage formula.

Mixing & developer compatibility

Welloxon developer, mixing and development

For standard Koleston Perfect colour services, mix one part colour cream with one part Welloxon Perfect developer. Wella’s example is 60g of colour with 60ml of developer. Measure accurately and prepare the mixture as directed on the pack. Do not replace the recommended developer with an activator intended for a different hair dye system.

The standard Wella guidance uses 6% (20 vol) for one level of lift, coverage, or colouring at the same depth or darker; 9% (30 vol) for two levels; and 12% (40 vol) for three. Standard development is 30–40 minutes without heat. Developer strength should follow the assessed service, not a promise that stronger peroxide will give a better result.

Special Blonde shades use separate instructions, including a 1:2 mixing ratio and 50–60 minutes without heat in the manufacturer’s guide. Up to 5 levels of lift relates to the suitable Special Blonde service with the specified developer. This does not mean that all Koleston Perfect shades offer five levels, or that colour will reliably lift through existing dark artificial pigment.

Follow the instructions for the particular shade and service, including any Special Mix additions. Apply with suitable professional hairdressing equipment and gloves, keeping the formula and timing under control. Assess porosity and existing hair damage before application, avoid unnecessary overlap, and rinse hair thoroughly after processing.

Frequently asked questions

ME+ technology, safety and colour care

What is ME+? This dye technology is designed to reduce the risk of developing a new allergy to hair colour in people who are not already allergic. It applies to specific shades in the range. It does not remove the risk of allergic reactions or make the product suitable for someone who has previously reacted to hair colourants.

Hair colourants can cause severe allergic reactions. Follow Wella allergy advice and carry out the manufacturer’s allergy alert test 48 hours before every application. Do not colour your hair after a previous reaction to hair dye, or on an irritated or damaged scalp. Read every pack warning, including the advice about temporary black henna tattoos. The product is not intended for anyone under the age of 16.

Is it for professional use? Yes. Koleston Perfect is intended for trained colourists who can assess the hair, select a suitable formula and follow the application instructions. This page supports product selection; it does not replace salon training or the safety information supplied with the product.

How do I maintain the result? Choose hair care suited to coloured hair and discuss the next appointment with your stylist. Roots may need a permanent colour service while faded lengths need a different refresh. Long-lasting colour does not mean that repeated full-length permanent applications are always appropriate.
